The administrative commands for deduplication let you:
Enable deduplication
operations.
View the deduplication status for a volume.
View deduplication space savings.
Stop deduplication.
Enabling deduplication operations
In addition to activating the deduplication license, you must specify the FlexVol volume on which you want the deduplication feature to work.
Stopping deduplication operations
Deduplication consumes bandwidth during processing. Therefore, you might want to stop a deduplication operation when critical file operations such as replication, backup, archiving, or restoration are underway.
Disabling deduplication
If deduplication on a specific volume has relatively higher overhead for the space savings achieved, you can disable deduplication on that volume. Also, you must disable deduplication before removing the deduplication license.
Enabling sis auto schedule
Deduplication runs automatically when the number of blocks added or changed since the last deduplication operation (performed either manually or automatically) exceeds approximately 20 percent of the total number of blocks that deduplication has already processed. You can change the percentage to adjust storage savings and CPU performance.
