In Data ONTAP 7.3 and later, the deduplication configuration data for a specified volume is located in a metafile within the volume. Before Data ONTAP 7.3, the configuration data was located in the registry of the root volume.
This change helps volume-level operations such as volume SnapMirror, snap restore, vol copy, and vol clone to keep the deduplication configuration data about the volume on the destination consistent with the source volume.
