A matching hot spare exactly matches a data disk for several characteristics.
A matching spare is a disk that exactly matches a data disk for all of the following criteria:
- Type (FC, SAS, SATA, or ATA)
Note: On systems that include both FC and SAS disks, FC disks are considered to be the same type as SAS disks. Similarly, on systems that contain both SATA and ATA disks, SATA disks are considered to be the same type as ATA disks.
- Size
- Speed (RPM)
- Checksum type (BCD or ZCD)
