Quota notifications go to the console and the /etc/messages file. You can also configure SNMP traps to be triggered when a quota is exceeded.
When a soft quota or threshold is exceeded, console messages are sent every 60 minutes while the resource usage exceeds the quota limit. Another message is sent when the threshold is no longer being exceeded.
SNMP traps can be used to arrange alternative methods of notification, such as e-mail. You can access and adapt a sample quota notification script for UNIX on the NOW site at now.netapp.com under Software Downloads, in the ToolChest section. You can find details on SNMP traps in the /etc/mib/netapp.mib file.
