Disk names for direct-attached disks

Names for direct-attached disks (disks that are attached directly to the storage system rather than through a switch) are based on the host adapter or port number, followed by the disk ID, in the following format: portID.diskID.

portID refers to the host adapter or port number as follows:

Note: Internal disks are considered to be connected via a specific onboard expansion slot. The slot number is platform-dependent. For the FAS2000 series systems, the slot number used for internal disks is 0c.

Examples

A disk with an ID of 33, connected via FC-AL to the B port of an adapter installed in expansion slot 4, would have the following name: 4b.33

A disk with an ID of 22, connected via FC-AL to onboard port 0a, would have the following name: 0a.22

An internal SAS-connected disk in a FAS2000 series system, occupying drive bay 17, with the internal disk shelf ID set to 0, would have the following name: 0c.0.17
