Title: Issues in Enterprise Content Management Abstract: Enterprise Content Management (ECM) describes any of the technologies employed in content management for handling the capture, storage, security, version control, retrieval, distribution, preservation and destruction of digital content. This seminar discusses some technical issues confronting ECM Systems. My lecture explains problems encountered in ECM through the interactions of search, access control and persistence. Access control management is common to all ECM and the emerging solution is Role-based Access Control which I describe. Information Retrieval is complicated in ECM systems because of the interaction of documents with the access control system. Because most ECMs are distributed document stores, the issues of caching and distributed update coordination are also problematic. I will present some well-known solutions in terms of distributed, lightweight epidemic update protocols.
