Overview
In the Master of Business Administration (MBA), students are able to integrate advanced knowledge of recent developments in business disciplines and professional practice, analyse real-world business situations, and create innovative, sustainable and judicious solutions to such challenges. Additionally, students are able to execute ideas and plans through their development of a range of organisational and communication skills.
Guided by the Faculty’s commitment to responsible and sustainable leadership, the MBA is structured around a set of ten core subjects, organised in three phases, and commences with Diagnostics, where students learn to diagnose issues in real organisations with a focus on accounting, marketing, and employee engagement and talent management; followed by Exploration, where students explore the latest thinking and practices in organisations and research worldwide while developing skills in business transformation, innovation and entrepreneurship, and financial strategy and governance; and culminates in Integration and Application, where students develop their strategic decision-making skills, undertake a real-world business project, hone their personal effectiveness as responsible leaders, and address challenges and opportunities from participant organisations through engagement in masterclasses and a conference.
Students’ learning activities include relevant and current case studies that compare theory with examples of leading edge organisational practices, guest lectures delivered by industry professionals, peer learning and critical reflection, followed by assessments that focus on using and applying knowledge and skills in real-life settings. The collective learning experience and authentic assessments enable students to attain knowledge and skills to standards that are commensurate with those of international business education requirements, and a Level 9 AQF qualification.
The MBA (Advanced) course offers students the opportunity to specialise in their area of interest by completing additional prescribed and/or elective subjects. The course has a strategic focus designed for students who require the knowledge, competencies and managerial skills necessary to operate in a challenging and changing global environment.
