Medical Radiation Physics
The course information on this page is for new students commencing their degree in 2016 only.
Students should follow the rules and requirements for the year that they commenced their course. The online course information for years prior to 2016 are available from the Archives link in the menu.
Students should also review current subject availabilities via the Subject Descriptions link in the menu.
The Medical Radiation Physics minor provides a broad foundation in the enabling sciences of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. Building on this foundation with biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, the student is able to develop a holistic view of the operation of the human organism. In addition they will develop an understanding of the scientific principles underlying physiological processes, and medical technologies and instrumentation. This minor provides a pathway into the MSc in Medical Radiation Physics, and via that into the training program for accreditation as a medical physicist in the Australian medical system. It also provides an excellent platform for those wishing to engage in postgraduate medical research in a broad range of areas, as well those simply wishing to pursue graduate entry into medicine.
