Course description
The Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of International Studies are complementary degrees combining the technical and practical skills in journalism with language skills and a solid grounding in international systems and issues.

Course structure
To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Journalism - Bachelor of International Studies, students must complete a minimum of 216 credit points (cp) comprised of the following:
1. 84cp of core Bachelor of Journalism subjects
2. 12cp of Journalism and/or Creative electives as outlined in the Bachelor of Journalism course handbook listing
3. The core subjects prescribed (52 credit points) for the Bachelor of International Studies
4. A minimum of a minor in a language other than English (minimum of 28 credit points; students may elect to take a major in a language)
5. At least one of the four minors listed in this degree: Asia Pacific Studies; Global Development and the Environment; International Communication; Peace and Security Studies (minimum of 24 credit points but no more than 32). These will normally be available in the second and third years of study. Upon graduation minors will appear on the transcript (i.e. academic record)
6. Elective subjects to bring the total number of credit points completed to 216
Students must consult academic advisors in the Faculty of Law, Humanities and Arts concerning the selection of appropriate subjects.
No more than 90 credit points at 100 level can be counted towards the Bachelor of Journalism - Bachelor of International Studies. Students must achieve a clear pass in the core 300 level subjects to be eligible to graduate with a Bachelor of Journalism - Bachelor of International Studies.
