COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Graduate Certificate in Public Relations is designed for those considering a new career in Public Relations as well for those practitioners seeking to enhance their contemporary public relations and communication knowledge.
Participants will gain an advanced understanding of:
- a range of media and media practices and their practical applications for public relations management in a complex business environment to help build, maintain, enhance and protect key relationships with various stakeholders.
- how to apply public relations strategies to contemporary innovation and change challenges.
- how public relations can strengthen and add value to innovation and change-related communication practices such as launching businesses and products, communicating change during mergers and acquisitions, and inspiring social innovation.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon Successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Review, analyse, design, consolidate and synthesise the theoretical principles and practical knowledge and skills in managing activities of professional public relations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of a range of traditional and new media practices and their applications for public relations management in a complex business environment.
- Think critically, generate and evaluate complex ideas relevant to public relations management of internal and external stakeholders and implement change related practices.
- Make high level independent judgements in a range of varied business communication contexts for building, enhancing, maintaining and protecting relationships with various stakeholders.
- Initiate, plan, manage and evaluate public relations strategies.
- Demonstrate an understanding how to build and enhance relationships with multiple stakeholders through various techniques including communicating effectively in a variety of business contexts.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to legal, social, ethical and cultural issues and implications related to communication processes involved in public relations management.
