Overview

Information systems are vital to the success of business and government. A Bachelor of Business Information Systems (BBIS) degree provides the knowledge and skills to design, develop and integrate information systems to support a client's business needs and to achieve a competitive edge in the global marketplace. A BBIS degree covers the whole of the system's lifecycle: from requirements-gathering and design and coding to testing and implementation, seen from a business perspective.

Assumed Knowledge: Any two units of English

Course Requirements

    a) Students who enrol in Bachelor of Business Information Systems must satisfactorily complete at least 144 credit points consisting of the following:

      i) 19 of the core subjects (120 credit points) taken from the Bachelor of Business Information Systems Core Subject list, plus

      ii) a 6 credit point subject from the Commerce Elective List and

      iii) three electives (18 credit points) from the General Schedule.

    b) a maximum of 72 credit points of 100-level subjects can be undertaken as part of the Bachelor of Business Information Systems degree.

    c) completion of ISIT200 Industry Placement, which is a single 8-week period of approved industry placement, assessed in the form of written reports. ISIT200 must be completed before graduation. The placement will normally be undertaken in the summer session at the end of the second year, although enrolment in this subject in the first year is strongly encouraged.
