Overview
The Bachelor of Performance is an intensive, specialist course that develops students as self-reliant, highly-skilled performing artists through a strong, practice-based program. Students can choose to specialise in either Acting (interpretive performance) or Performance-making (generative, devised performance) or Technical Theatre (encompassing stage management, technical/production management and operation and creative practice in sound, lighting and audio-visual design).
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate their ability to meet the criteria for a proposed major as determined by an audition or interview. Please refer to the Faculty website for details: http://www.uow.edu.au/crearts/futureundergrad/index.html.
The Bachelor of Performance is an intensive, practice-based course. Students must maintain a high standard of both academic and practical ability to remain in the course.
Students who complete the first year of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre) to a high performance standard, may be permitted to transfer into the Bachelor of Performance.
Credit Arrangements
The Faculty offers credit transfers to students who have successfully completed relevant courses at accredited universities and colleges. Students seeking credit transfer are advised to contact the Faculty or UniAdvice for further details and refer to the General Course Rules.
Course Requirements
Prior to commencing the Bachelor of Performance degree, students must elect to study either the Acting and Performance-making major or Technical Theatre major. Please refer to the course requirements outlined in the Acting and Performance-making Major Study and Technical Theatre Major Study entries in this Handbook.
Note: No more than 60 credit points at 100 level can be counted towards the Bachelor of Performance degree. Students must achieve a clear pass in the core 300 level subjects to be eligible to graduate with a Bachelor of Performance.
