Overview
The Bachelor of Journalism course caters for students planning a career in journalism or a related field. The course has been designed to provide students with a range of skills that will enable them to work in print, broadcast or online media.
Entry Requirements
Admission to the Bachelor of Creative Arts is based on the HSC ATAR (or equivalent), although outstanding results in relevant subjects/areas may also be taken into account.
Credit Transfer
The Faculty offers credit transfers to students who have successfully completed relevant courses at accredited universities and colleges. No more than 18 credit points of elective subjects may be taken at 100 level and there must be at least 6 credit points at 300 level. Students seeking credit transfer are advised to contact the Faculty or UniAdvice for further details and refer to the General Course Rules.
Course Requirements
All students must complete a minimum of 144 credit points (cp) comprised of the following:
1. 108cp of Journalism subjects which includes:
- 72cp of core Bachelor of Journalism subjects
- 36cp of Journalism electives chosen from 200 level and 300 level options*
2. 36cp of non-Journalism electives taken outside of Journalism.
Note: No more than 48 credit points at 100 level can be counted towards the Bachelor of Journalism degree. No more than 18 credit points of elective subjects may be taken at 100 level and there must be at least 6 credit points at 300 level. Students must achieve a clear pass in the core 300-level subjects to be eligible to graduate with a Bachelor of Journalism.

* Students who will graduate with a 54cp Minor study in Science will only be required to complete 18cp of Journalism electives.
