Overview
The Bachelor of Journalism (BJour) is a three-year full-time course that caters for students planning a career in journalism or a related field. The course has been designed to provide students with a range of skills that will enable them to work in print, broadcast or online media.
Entry Requirements
Acceptance into the Bachelor of Journalism degree is based upon:
- Written submissions with application; and
- ATAR result
Credit Transfer
The Faculty offers credit transfers to students who have successfully completed relevant courses at accredited universities and colleges.
Course Requirements
The Bachelor of Journalism degree requires 3 years of full-time study or part-time equivalent and the completion of subjects to the value of 144 credit points. Students enrolling in the Bachelor of Journalism are required to complete:
- 108 credit points of Journalism subjects which includes 72 points of core Bachelor of Journalism subjects plus six journalism subjects (36 credit points) chosen from 200 level and 300 level options.
Students must achieve a clear pass in the core 300-level subjects to be eligible to graduate with a Bachelor of Journalism.

*Exception: Students who will graduate with a 54 credit point Minor study in Science will be exempted from the three non-core journalism subjects.

Electives
Single degree students in the Bachelor of Journalism must also complete 36 credit points of elective subjects taken outside Journalism.
No more than 18 credit points may be counted at 100 level, and there must be at least 6 credit points at 300 level.
