Overview

The Bachelor of Performance is a three year, intensive, specialist course that develops students as self-reliant, highly-skilled performing artists through a strong, practice-based program. Students can specialise in either Acting (interpretive performance) or Performance-making (generative, devised performance)

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate their ability to meet the criteria for a proposed major as determined by an audition.

The Bachelor of Performance is an intensive, practice-based course. Students must maintain a high standard of both academic and practical ability to remain in the course.

Students who complete the first year of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre) to a high performance standard, may be permitted to transfer into the Bachelor of Performance.

Please refer to the Faculty website in mid 2011 for details. International applications may be submitted anytime throughout the year for commencement in the next academic year.

Credit Arrangements

Students seeking credit transfer are advised to contact the Faculty or UniAdvice for further details and refer to the General Course Rules.

Course Requirements

All students must complete a minimum of 144 credit points as detailed below. The first three sessions of the course are common and then students will be streamed into either Acting or Performance-making. Students who fail to meet the required performance standard for either stream will transfer to the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre).

The Acting major is entirely prescribed, with the only elective options being 12cp in first year. The Performance-making major is more flexible and has 24cp of electives where students may elect to take a minor study from either the Faculty of Creative Arts or from other Faculties or consider Creative Arts Open Studio subjects to complement their program.

While Directing for Theatre is not specified in the Bachelor of Performance, students may be given the option to pursue directing as part of the Performance-making major. The option to study direction is by invitation only.
