Overview
The Bachelor of Creative Arts is a three-year full-time course that involves study of theory and practice based work in a major study area: Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Creative Writing or Theatre.
Entry Requirements
Admission is based on a combination of academic and artistic ability and attainment of an appropriate HSC level (ATAR) or equivalent. Students applying for Creative Writing, Graphic Design, and Visual Arts will be required to submit a portfolio of creative work with their application. Students applying for Theatre will be required to attend an audition.
Please refer to the Faculty website in mid 2011 for details on entry requirements. International applications may be submitted anytime throughout the year for commencement in the next intake.

2. A Major Study (72cp) in one of the following Creative Arts disciplines:

3. A multi-disciplinary component of either:
a. A minor study (24cp) in one of the following Creative Arts disciplines;
• Art History
• Creative Writing
• Design History
• Media Arts

A minimum of 12cp of Creative Arts Open Studio subjects at 200 level or higher, not to be counted with subjects in the Major Study (i.e. subjects undertaken as part of the 72cp required for the student's Major Study that are also listed as Open Studio subjects cannot be cross-counted towards the multidisciplinary component).
The list of Creative Arts Open Studio subjects will be published each year from 2012 and include a variety of subjects that have either a multidisciplinary focus or are accessible to students from outside of one of the Major Study programs (thus allowing students to undertake study in a variety of disciplines).
Note: The multidisciplinary component is not required for students in double degree programs.
4. Elective subjects to bring the total number of credit points completed to the minimum 144cp required. Students may take as electives, any subjects in the University that are not otherwise restricted. Students are strongly encouraged to consider using their elective subjects to complete one of the minor studies offer by Creative Arts or other Faculties, such as Arts and Commerce.
5. No more than 60cp at 100 level can be counted towards the degree.
6. Students may not undertake a major and minor in the same discipline. Subjects taken as part of a major or minor cannot be cross-counted into any other major or minor.

Students can also take minors as part of their degree program either from those offered by the Faculty of Creative Arts or those offered by other faculties provided they meet the requirements. Minor study areas are recorded on the Academic Transcript (official academic record). Students are reminded that to have a minor study recorded they need to declare their minor study by submitting an Application to Declare or Change Intended Major/Minor.
Creative Arts Open Studio Subjects
Open Studio subjects are available to students from outside the Faculty of Creative Arts. 200 and 300 level subjects will be available to students in future years, though some pre-requisites may apply. Open Studio subjects will be offered on a rotational basis and will not be available every year.
