Overview

The Master of Science (Nutrition) program provides access to the academic and research experience of the MSc (Nutrition and Dietetics) program, but excludes the placement program and so is not accredited by the DAA. It is particularly suitable for students interested in a nutrition research career or nutrition work in other countries which do not require professional dietetic recognition.

Entry Requirements / Assumed Knowledge

A Bachelor degree (incorporating a full year of study of both biochemistry and human physiology) of at least 3 years duration from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent. Entry is competitive, and it is only possible to admit a limited number of students each year. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, admission will be based on academic qualifications.

International students are required to have achieved an IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum level of 6 in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Advanced Standing

Depending on their undergraduate degree, students can apply for advanced standing for up to 24 credit points, which would allow completion in 18 months of full-time study.

Course Requirements

The Master of Science (Nutrition) is comprised of 72 credit points of subjects and can be taken as 1.5 years full-time or 3 years part-time enrolment.
