Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice and Advocacy (Defence)
Overview
This program addresses a previously unmet need for training that addresses the specific learning needs of prospective or early career criminal defence counsel. It will provide a foundation for practice and professional development in this area.
Entry Requirements / Assumed Knowledge
Prospective students should possess a degree in Law from a recognised institution or recognised overseas equivalent or be admitted to practice as a barrister or solicitor.
English language requirements:
- IELTS overall band 7.0 or
- IELTS overall band 6.0 with attendance in either ELL901 English for Postgraduate Studies 1 in Autumn Session or ELL903 English for Postgraduate Studies 2 in Spring Session.
Advanced Standing
The subjects Applied Criminal Law and Advanced Criminal Evidence may be cross-credited to the courses Master of Laws (Prosecutions) and the Graduate Diploma in Prosecutions.
Course Requirements
Students are required to satisfactorily complete 30 credit points from the prescribed subjects listed in the Course Program.
