Overview
Using an interdisciplinary approach based on the research tools and methods of the social sciences, the program draws on perspectives from international relations and politics, international political economy, history and cultural studies to introduce students to some theoretical approaches to understanding current world affairs, debates about globalisation, economic development and social change.
Through core and elective subjects, this program examines the complex relationships between states and societies, nations and economies, individuals and communities across areas such as international law, political economy, labour and migration, culture, media, environment, and security.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students graduating from the Master of International Studies will be able to:
- Evaluate and communicate the main debates in international studies and related fields.
- Analyse social and cultural change in international and regional contexts demonstrating a critical understanding of contemporary globalization and development issues.
- Apply key theories of international studies to contemporary interactions in the corporate, government and non-profit sector.
- Independently plan and execute a substantial research-based project or piece of scholarship that demonstrates advanced understanding and critical analysis of the area of study.
